Resident Spotlight: Sandra Ellis
Legacy Village of Tifton resident Sandra Ellis has always lived up to her nickname, “Sassy.” Born in Tifton, Georgia, on March 18, 1955, Sandra grew up with three brothers and a sister in a bustling family led by her mother, Jeanette Goodman Ellis Handy, and her father, Terrence Ellis. Lively, loving, and always ready with a smile, Sandra’s spark has carried her through every chapter of her life.
Sandra married Edgar Cole and together they raised two children, Trey and Autumn Cole. She also became a proud grandmother to Peighton. After her marriage with Edgar ended in divorce, Sandra found love again and married George, building a new life together.
After completing her Cosmetology Degree in Ben Hill County, Sandra worked for several years alongside her mom in the family beauty shop, helping clients feel their best. Inspired to make an even greater difference, she returned to college and majored in Special Education, devoting herself to her students in Moultrie, Georgia. Sandra’s dedication as a teacher left a lasting impression on those she taught.
Life brought another adventure when Sandra moved to Acworth, Georgia. There, she and George created a successful business—Ellis Enterprises—selling fittings and parts for soft drink machines. The pair traveled across the United States, working with major corporations and forging connections from coast to coast.
In 2006, Sandra faced a serious illness. As her health needs grew, she and George eventually divorced, and Sandra returned home to be cared for by her mother, Jeanette. Their bond grew even closer when both moved to Legacy Village, becoming next-door neighbors and sharing daily life until Jeanette’s recent passing.
Sandra’s joys are easy to spot: she loves chocolate, sweets, Coca-Cola and seafood. She’s always up for a nap, a lively game of bingo or the Butterbean Auction, and she can often be seen dancing through the halls at Legacy. Family and friendship mean everything to her—she treasures time spent with her children, her granddaughter Peighton, and the many friends who brighten her days. Hugs and an “I love you so much” are Sandra’s trademarks, shared freely with everyone she meets. And when it comes to sports, Sandra is a devoted Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan.
Sandra’s story is one of resilience, love and a generous spirit. Legacy Village is truly a brighter, more joyful place with Sandra as part of the family.
