Resident Spotlight: Marlon Webb
Legacy Village of Tifton resident Marlon Jefferson Webb was born on June 9 in Madison County, Florida, where his childhood unfolded against the backdrop of farm life. The son of Alton and Viola Cruce, Marlon spent countless afternoons after school working alongside his father, learning early how to coax life from the land. With four siblings at his side, those years were filled with the closeness of family and the gentle, steady guidance of hardworking parents—his father tending the fields, his mother caring for the home.
After graduating from Madison County High School, Marlon took his first job as a patient orderly at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He brought the same work ethic he learned on the farm to every patient he helped. In 1968, he made a choice that would shape his life: he enlisted in the United States Army. His service took him far from home, including a tour in Vietnam.
When his time in the military ended in 1975, Marlon returned not only with the experience behind him and the memories to hold onto, but also the quiet pride of having met President Richard Nixon upon his return from Vietnam—a moment he recalls with honor.
Back in civilian life, Marlon began a new career in construction, building a future as solid as the foundations he poured. Along the way, he found lasting happiness in marriage, sharing 32 years with his beloved spouse. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Della—a moment that remains, for Marlon, the most special of his life. To his family and friends, he’s always been “Shorty,” a nickname that speaks to the affection and warmth he inspires.
Marlon finds joy in life’s simple moments. He loves tending his garden, casting a line in the water, and listening to music that stirs old memories. Faith is at the center of his days. As a proud member of Hopewell Baptist Church, he draws strength from worship and fellowship, cherishing spiritual gatherings that nourish his spirit and deepen his sense of community.
Today, Marlon is a treasured member of the Legacy Village of Tifton family. His journey—from the farm fields of Madison County to distant service, from fatherhood to a life anchored by faith—reminds all who know him of the quiet strength found in devotion, gratitude, and love.
